Go Ahead, Make Fun.

This post is going to be short & sweet!
{I have to catch up on The Bachelor}
Soo....
last night I decided to watch The Lost Valentine with Betty White & Jennifer Love Hewitt.
Big mistake!! I cried like a little baby!
If you watched it, you understand.
If you didn't, you should - but in the same since, be kind of glad you didn't!
It is a MAJOR tear jerker!

Anyway,
as I was hysterically crying my loving boyfriend was filming me without my knowledge.
He then proceeded to post in on Facebook today... again, without my knowledge.

This is the video...
You can't really see it, but you can definitely hear it...
His payback is coming soon!

Tell It To Me Tuesdays!

Hey lil bits!

Today I am linking up with CMae for her first...
Basically you get to complain about whatever is bothering you & I LOVE that ;)
(especially after the day I'm having)

1st of all - let's talk about the Sciatic Nerve! I HATE MINE TODAY!
I went running with the roomie & was literally crippled over from the pain.
I'm a runner & the fact that it hurts so badly is really cramping my style leg..
I called mom crying I was in so much pain.
Call me a whiny baby, I don't care. This shiaaat huuuuurts!!!
I can hardly walk, it hurts to sit & it KILLS me to run!
Mom says I probably have to have surgery if I want to keep running without it hurting. :(
Looks like I'll be catchin up with the Dr. tomorrow at 2:20 to see what I need to do to fix this!

Secondly, I cannot stand the fact that I still do not know who did THIS...

... to my fence!!!
Whoever did it left their Honda emblem off the front of the car!
-You can see it in the bottom left hand corner of the picture-
Notice the vacant lot behind the fence, yes they had to drive ACROSS that lot to hit my fence!
Thank God we weren't home that day because that's where my roommate and I park!
Seriously people? Pay attention when you're driving! :)

On a happy note:
If you are a runner and haven't downloaded Girl Talk you can download it HERE.
I got the link from Sheryl -- if you haven't read her blog you should!
She is definitely an inspiration to those who want to eat healthier, lose weight, & just find happiness!
Love her!

Hope everyone has had a great day!

I need a margarita .. or two... maybe three -- at least until my doctor appointment!
Gotta ease the back pain somehow right?!

birthday party madness

Hey girlies!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
My weekend was fantastic!
[minus the first hangover I've had in for-ev-errrr]
More on that later..

Friday was great because I got to catch up with my nursing friends!
We had mexican food, margaritassss, queso and more margaritassss...
Then we went to try our luck at bowling..
EPIC fail on my part.
Let's just say I would've done MUCH better if I got to use the bumpers.
"Gutter Ball" was the most used term that night when I got up to bowl! :(
We ended the night having drinks.... again.
No complaint on my part though, because God knows if a Mango Margarita is involved,
I'm one HAPPY camper ;)

Saturday night we went to the bar for my friend Monica's bday!
Ah, hell - what am I talking about? BAR(S) would be more correct!
I even got to take pictures for the first time since August!
[My charger had been lost misplaced in my room for the past .. hmm.. 6 months?]

Me, Jade & Erika!

Drink of choice for the night:
Vodka, Pineapple Juice with a splash of Grenadine!
Yumm-O!!!

Birthday Girl with our free champagne!

We love Champagne .. especially when it's free! ;)

Remember that comment in the beginning about a hangover?!
Yeahhh....

After seeing this picture, you can bet your bottom dollar that I spent Sunday recuperating
&& enjoying my first King Cake of the Mardi Gras season!
It had Cream Cheese filling & I enjoyed everyyyy.singleee.bite!
[no, I didn't get the baby]

If you aren't from Louisiana, & have never had a King Cake,
I suggest you get your @$$ to this amazing state and getcha some ;)

For those of you who don't have the first clue about what a King Cake is or what I meant when I said, I didn't get the baby, no worries.. you can watch this video.
It's corny but it's history is dead on! :)

After my wild weekend I felt it necessary to leave you with this quote from School of Rock..
Dewey Finn: Ok, here's the deal. I have a hangover. Who knows what that means?
Frankie: Doesn't that mean you're drunk?
Dewey Finn: No. It means I was drunk yesterday.
:)

Insane Friday!

Hey my lady friends!
Leeeet me just tell you about how CraZy this day has been.
So last night I ended up being awake until 2:30am...
when I had class at 8am this morning!
My sleeping schedule is jacked up & obviously I've become an insomniac.
Knowing that I would be super sleepy, I set three alarms {6:10, 6:15, 6:20}.
Gotta be prepared right!?
Well... NOT ONE OF THEM WENT OFF!!!! Grrr..
So, I wake up at 7:53am.. mind you, I drive 30-35min to my college in Texas.
I was FREAKING out & I left my house at 7:57!
Oh, & did I mention I only have this class once a week?
Therefore, we can only miss 1 day all semester! {this is only the 2nd class day of the semester}.
Thank goodness my professor is AMAZING & gave us his cell number in case of an emergency!
THIS was an "emergency"!!
I called,
he told me to calm down, be safe,
& not to worry about it because he won't penalize me for it!
{I swear I literally heard angels singing "hallelujah" in my head}
I made it to class at 8:30 ... whew!!
I went 10 miles over the speed limit today, which is record for me.
I am so not a speeder; ask my friends - I'm the "grandma"
:)

After class I had lunch at Casa Ole' with my momma & my step-dad!

I even had a few of these..
... shhh, don't tell anyone I cheated on my diet.
Those are strawberry ritas, by the way!

[Don't scroll down if you have a weak stomach..]
After lunch I got a call from my boyfriend, Blane.
He is having to go to the ER because he sliced his hand at work.
Holyshmoly! Typically this picture would disgust me
but since I've changed my major to nursing - this is nothing!
Took 8 stitches to sew that bad boy up!
Yumm-O!

Now, on to happier things!
Tonight I'm finally getting to see my nursing friends for the first time since winter-mini! :)
I cannot wait to visit, have some ritas & enjoy a good mexican meal for the 2nd time today!
Clearly, I never get tired of that amazing fiesta food! ;)
Hope you all have a fantastic night & a great weekend!

Oh, before I forget!
Everyone should listen to Miranda Lambert's new song "Heart Like Mine"
I feel like this song was written for me! ;)
LOVE LOVE LOVE!
 :)

These are my obsessions..

Hey my friends!
Excuse the title - Urshurrr is stuck in my head at the moment!
That song made me feel like blogging about my current obsessions, so that's what I'm durrin!

1.) FeFe Dobson's song, Stuttering.
It's amazing & I love running to it!

2.) Jessie J - "Do It Like A Dude"
It's a little more out there; so I won't post it on here!
However, it pumps me UP when I run!

3.)  Making my sushi homemade. It's so easy & fairly cheap!
Blane & I have gotten to where we make it all the time.
{Excuse the crappy Iphone photo quality}

4.) My puppy, Ace.  He's a shitster - but I love him! :)

5.) This new "vlog" trend that's going around!
I found the idea on a few fellow bloggers website!
First of all, I didn't realize my accent was that bad.  I sound like a hick to the 25th power.
Secondly, I look like an idiot when I pause for the "rain" question.
{I'm still not sure of the correct answer}
Lastly, feel free to make jokes & laugh because I cracked up the whole time doing this!
Feel free to play along:

Here is the list of words to say and questions to answer.

Aunt, Route, Wash, Oil, Theater, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, Sure, Data, Ruin, Crayon, Toilet, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Spitting image, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Syrup, Pajamas, Caught
      • What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
      • What is the bug that when you touch it, it curls into a ball?
      • What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
      • What do you call gym shoes?
      • What do you say to address a group of people?
      • What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
      • What do you call your grandparents?
      • What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
      • What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
      • What is the thing you change the TV channel with?

Now that that embarrassment is over, I'm going to SNAP to get my
3 miles for the day in! :)

Oh, The Bachelor..

Take back my marriage proposal to Brad Womack.
1.) I've kind of decided he's a silly after watching him "run" in the carnival with what's-her-name.  And him saying "When we were running through that carnival..." {insert ridiculous running clip here}.. I second guessed my marriage with this man.

2.) I would also like to comment on how bad his acting was... oh.my.gawd.
It was almost as bad as Britney Spears' acting {love her music, not her movies}.

3.) I'm not a fan of Michelle this season - she is a certified crazy person!
Who seriously creeps outside of a glass door?
[This lil lady right here does]
Might I add that she is giving me flashbacks of last season's Michelle {pictured below}!
Not only do they have the same names, but they have the same psycho personality!

I think that's all I have to say about this episode!
[Besides Emily & Jackie being the most adorable things ever!]

Time To Play Catch Up!

Wow, where did I disappear to this weekend!?
The answer: a little place on the map called DeQuincy!  Complete blogging FAIL the past three days, my sincere apologies.
I could bore you with the unamusing happenings of this weekend, but I won't!
{To sum it up, I was lazy -with a touch of boring-... AKA: a granmawww (insert long southern drawl)}

One thing I did do this weekend, was start my running routine again!  I'm so excited and I couldn't possibly feel any better!  Ok, maybe I could {if I had a mango margarita from Chili's} - but you get the idea! ;)

Today, my friend Bridget & I went running.  We ran 2.1 miles! Not quite our 3 mile goal, but close.  We'll get there soon!  I can't wait to really pick up the pace and start training for the marathon I have in April.
This is me and Bridget at our tacky sweater party this year.  [Yes, that is a bird on her shirt that I am groping.]

Moving on...
Tonight I finally get to see my roomie, catch up on The Bachelor, have some {cheap} wine & relax.  Unlike everyone else, I don't have school tomorrow - or any Tuesday for that matter.  Take that suckaaaas.

Oh and did I mention Brad Womack and I are getting married?!  This is the picture of him handing me the final rose-- but I won't bore you with our love story. {Totally kidding- I'm not a crazy, psycho - don't get the wrong impression. (:}

(Just a little FYI to all you bloggers--excuse my crazy antics, lame jokes and my weird obsessions with cheap wine, margaritas, bad reality shows & all things girly.)

If you want to see a hottie tonight - tune in to ABC for The Bachelor ;)

Life moves pretty fast..

Lately I've been thinking a lot about getting older.  I've been thinking a lot about what my life is going to be like 5 years from now, 10 years from now, etc.  I don't mind getting older.  To be honest, it excites me to think about all the things to come; all the possibilities.  Nonetheless, the sad but inevitable truth is that, as I get older, so do my parents.

Since both of my parents are morticians, I've been around death my whole life.  Hell, I lived in apartment above a funeral home until I was five {very My Girl, I know}.  However, I had never really thought much about growing older, or what my life would be like without my parents.  That is, until mom was put in ICU for over a month this past March.

We go through life thinking we have so much "control" over our lives, but when things like that happen, when you are blindsided by life's little (not so great) surprises - you realize the lack of control you have over your life.

While she was peacefully sleeping in ICU,  my thoughts were filled with regret.  I wished so badly I could take back all those fights we had in high school over me attending parties, my cell phone bill, cleaning my room, doing my chores, etc.  All I wanted to do was hug her, hear her voice, and tell her how much I loved her.

When you're young, you are so engrossed in the idea of growing up, moving out, getting into college, getting a "real job," that you don't really think about the not so sunny side of life.  You're full of hope & your world is filled with possibilities.  However, everyone is different.  Each person's perspective is altered by their life experiences, so I can't speak for everyone.  I can just say that in high school, I honestly was so naive to believe that nothing bad was ever going to happen to me, my friends, or my family.  My biggest crisis was being grounded and not being able to go to the Friday night football game {ah, remember those days?}.

We live our lives every day at such a fast pace.  We fall in love, fall out of love, make friends, change friends, move away, work hard, play hard and get lost in the chaos of our everyday lives.  With that being said, do we all truly "live our lives like it's our last day?"  Probably not, but we do the best we can, and we get by.

However, you are never guaranteed tomorrow. Spend time with the one(s) you love & enjoy each and every moment.  Pick your battles.  Choose to trust and fall in love.  Be spontaneous.  Don't let people discourage you from reaching your dreams.  Take time for yourself, even if it's just a bubble bath with a glass of wine {my personal favorite "me time"}.  Don't live too fast.

{These are the thoughts that have consumed my life for the past few months...welcome to my life.} (:

Ferris Bueller is right:
"Life moves pretty fast.  If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you might miss it."

Margarita Madness

Strawberry Margarita

Today has definitely been a "where is my margarita" kind of day!  Although I haven't started my training for the marathon, I have still been one busy bee!

Oh, did I mention I've become obsessed with blogging in the past 24 hours - who would've thought, right?!
My new found obsession has caused my roommate to start blogging too! Gotta love it!

Tonight is all about relaxing, having a few drinks at Olive Garden with my loves, and then catching up with my favorite girls: Miranda, Samantha, Carrie, & Charlotte.

The Beginning of My Journey for The Cure!

Ok, where to start... I've always made fun of people who had blogs.  I never felt like anything in my life was important enough to write about for the rest of the world to see.
However, as I was reading my SHAPE magazine tonight, I started reading weight loss success stories from everyday women.
Most of them began their journey by running with a friend, joining a gym, or running in local marathons.  They all talked about how these things kept them motivated.  I've always loved to run, but I was looking for something that would motivate me! Therefore, my quest for motivation began!
I started toying around with the idea of local marathons & called my friend Bridget because God knows, when I come up with an idea.. I always want a partner in crime!
We began looking into the local running groups and decided to join the Go Run group here in Lake Charles.  They slowly train you to run, set goals, and turn you into a decent runner.  Of course, I wanted to go further, find a goal that would really make me get off my ass {excuse the French, but it's true} and do something!

That's when I thought of Susan G. Komen 3-day For The Cure. Ah ha!  I've found it..my motivation.  For those of you who aren't familiar with this, it's a 3 day, 60 mile walk to raise money for breast cancer awareness.
Although it seems like a daunting task, I think I can do it.  My best-friend's mom had breast cancer, and I lost my Granny & Chacha to this terrible disease.
Their suffering was far more than the suffering I would have to endure to train for, and participate in, this 3 day walk.  I started looking at dates and decided on Boston - July 22-24th.  I immediately called my dad, told him to pencil this into his schedule in place of our yearly "father-daughter trip."
He was just as excited as I was about it, along with my step-mom.
What started out as a random night surfing the web turned into, what I think will be, the journey of a lifetime!  In order to participate in the walk, each person has to raise $2,300 -- so, with that being said, let the fundraising & training begin!!!!
