Running Is My Drug

Hey girlies!
This is my second post of the day.. probably because I'm on autopilot & bored.
Let's also pretend that I'm not delirious as hell.. shall we?
First of all, I'm SUPER pumped that I ran again tonight with no back pain WHATSOEVER!
Hellssss yeahhh! ;)  It's a great feeling to be able to run when you haven't been able to in so long.  For those of you that don't run, try it.  Try it for 2 months, if you can get past the first 2 months you WILL be addicted.  Guaranteed.  It's a feeling I can't explain.  It feels like you're free.  At least that's how it feels for me.  It's just me, the road, & my rocking tunes that are BLARING in my ear pods.  Ahhh.. just thinking about it makes me happy :)
Tonight, my friend Bridget came and ran with me.  We rocked it!  I thought about posting pictures of us.. but seriously, we both look sick.  It's disgusting.  Trust me, ya don't want to see us. ;)  I'm so pale that I could pass for a Cullen family member... true life.  Not to mention, I am deprived of sleep & look like a crackhead ... I'm not, by any means - but I sure as hell look like one.  I tell ya, stress takes its toll on my body.  I guess I take after my dad in that way....
-------------------------------
Moving on....
I'm super EXCITED about spring break this year.  No, I'm not taking the usual college trip that I have taken the past 3 years of my life.  It will not be wild, crazy, drunk nights.  My dad and I are actually either going skiing or to North Carolina.  I know it sounds lame, but my dream vacation is to Raleigh, NC.... Thank you Nicholas Sparks.  If you haven't read his books, almost all of them take place in NC or SC.  :)  He's my favorite author, so I dream of this place ... seriously.

I've been trying to brainstorm for what books I would like to take on this little adventure and I've narrowed it down to four:

1.) Eat, Pray, Love
I've read it already, but it inspires me.  I actually started reading it again this week, and I'm falling in love all over again.  Richard from Texas gives the best advice EVER in this book.

2.) Something Borrowed
Ever since I came across the movie trailer, I have been dying to get this book on my Kindle.  It will happen, this week. You can count on that! ;)

3.) Nights In Rodanthe
I've read it twice already, but ya'll - everyone wants a love like theirs.  Seriously.  If you don't want to read this one, ALL of his books are amazing.  Trust me, there isn't one that I haven't read. :)

4.) Water For Elephants
Because I've had a bazillion people tell me to read this bood!  Ok, I probably exaggerated... not a bazillion people -- but you get the idea.

------------

PS: To my pass it forward girls! I have not forgotten about ya'll, I swear.  I've just been having hell these past few weeks & haven't found the time to shop! I'll get on it ASAP! Promise! :]

Have a great night my fraaands. :)

Living for Me

Hey friends!
Thanks for the sweet comments on my post the other day.
For those that don't know- my boyfriend of 4 years & myself broke up thursday night!  However, we ended on the best note possible.  We both want the best for the other person, and that is so amazing that we can feel that way.  I was crushed & my heart still aches at random times.  At the same time, I can't put into words how EXCITED I am for my future.  It's like I have the whole world at my fingertips again... scary {a little} but thrilling!
It's hard to describe!  For the first time in about 5 years, I'm able to focus on what I want.
I don't have anyone to tell me this, and tell me that.  I can just be alone!  I've never liked being alone, but I'm starting to enjoy it.  Last time Blane and I broke up, I tried to do the rebound thing.  It's like there was this void that I needed to be filled so I started going out with another guy.  Looking back, that made things worse.  I never had time to work on myself, think about what I want, and actually give my heart time to heal.  I just jumped right into another relationship & at the end of the day, I was still unhappy.  I still felt like there was something missing.  I realize now that what was missing was myself.  I never gave myself the time and space that I needed.  Shame on me for that, because I knew going into that relationship with the rebound that I wasn't ready.  That's the mistake I will not make this time.  I'm going to take as long as I need.  I want to be selfish, completely selfish.  It sounds awful, but I've always been the girl that has a guy.  I've never been alone because honestly, I didn't like being alone.  To be honest, I don't need a guy this time to make me feel comfortable in my own skin.  I don't need a guy to fill this void.  I want to fill my own voids, and just discover who I am.   This way when Mr. Right does come along -- I'll be ready.  I have my friends and family to be my strength.  Hell, I have myself.  I don't need a guy that I know won't mean a thing to me to make me feel better.  I'm so much stronger & better than that!!  This time the break-up is different, I'm not longing to be needed by someone.  It's like a world of opportunity is just waiting for me. Like I said, my heart does ache from time to time & I'm sure it will for a while - but in the back of my mind, I can't wait to begin this new chapter of my life.  I can't wait to see what God has planned for me!
For the past 4 years, I've had set plans.  I was going to be a nurse, live here, get married, have kids, etc., etc.  Now I have no plans & my mind is gradually becoming used to the idea.
I can now ask myself, "where will I be in 2 years?" and not have the slightest clue! :)
AHHH! I love that!  I love to travel, and I love a good adventure.  I'm so grateful that God is giving me an opportunity to just live my life how I want.  I've been amazed at the amount of strength that I've had.  It's like something inside of me woke up.  I guess it's like that saying, "you don't know how strong you are until being strong is your only option."
This is my life, and I'm happy to stand back and just let it unfold. :)  I can't believe all these words are coming out of my mouth!!  Ya'll, I'm normally a planner, but this time I just want to let go & just enjoy the ride!  What's meant to be, will be - I firmly believe that.
I think I'm at ease because I know that there is someone out there [somewhere] who will love me unconditionally, flaws & all.  I don't want anyone right now, and I may not for a long time, but someday- I will.... & that thought makes me happy. :)

Anyways...
Now that I'm done giving my life saga, I want to share a lyric of a song that has helped me so much in the past few days.  {along with the video} hehe :)
"Even on my weakest days, I get a little bit stronger."
And here's the video in case ya'll haven't seen it! :) I loves her!

----------

I'm about to go get a pedicure with one of my bests :) can't wait! Then tonight I'm going to visit with God at his house & then have dinner with another one of my friends.  I should be studying anatomy, but I want a break.  So I'm taking one!
It's my life... right!? ;)
Hope you all have a FANTASTIC Sunday!!!!!!
My apologies for babbling on and on about what I want in life... I'm just excited!
OH!!!! & might I add, that I now can fit back into my skinny jeans that I couldn't even button a month ago! AH! I'm so thrilled!  I've also lost 8lbs.. HELLS YEAHHHH ;)

Run=SUCCESS!

Ya'll,
I can't even begin to tell ya'll how EXCITED I am!!!!!
I've mentioned before that my sciatic nerve is pinched, and that I haven't been able to run because it hurt me so badly.
Well guess what?!!?!
Today, I ran for the first time in over a month.
I'm ECSTATIC!
I love to run.
It's one of my only true passions in life.
Ya'll, I can't describe the high it gives me.  It's like nothing in this world.
Call me crazy, but it's true!

When I'm stressed, it calms me down.
When I'm upset, it clears my head.
Lately, I've been stressed and upset [more on that later]  -- so I decided tonight to give it a "go".
I started off slow, paced myself, and slowly gained speed!
I actually completed a whole mile without the slightest pain!!!
I thought about going longer, but I didn't want to push it!
Normally, I take pride in how I look.
 I never post hideous-o pics but tonight, I don't give a DAMN!
So here I am, red face, bad hair and all - and I'm loving every second of it!! :)
{I get that I look disgusting, but let's forget that fact -- just for tonight, shall we?} ;)

Yay!
Now you all know what I look like when I look like badonkadonk. :)

----------------
In other news!
My 30 day-30 questions challenge went down the drain.... obviously.
My sincere apologies! LOL
I.Am.Such.A.Bad.Blogger.Challenger. :)
With that being said, Michelle Leigh, over at Mambo Gook tagged me in a handwriting post, which I will get to as soon as I have my scanner back!
Promise!
My handwriting is crap, so everyone prepare yourselves... It could get really ugly!

------------------
I'm about to sketch off, drink wine, & watch American Idol, but before I do let me just say this:
One year ago today, my momma bear {Melisa Palooza.. don't ask why I call her palooza - I just do} was hit with the H1N1.  She ended up being in ICU for a month & it was hell! However, I've gotta tell ya- what a difference a year makes!  We had lunch today & I couldn't help but wonder what I would have done without her this past year!  God is GREAT & I am so blessed he let us keep her another year!
On that note,
I CANNOT wait for her BLOWOUT surprise party March 11th!
[she was still in ICU last year on her b-day, so we are doing it B-I-G, you hear me?!?!]
What, Whaaaatttt!?! ;)
Can't wait! Ya'll be ready because the pics from that partaay might get a little crazaay! haha
I sent out the invites today so I'm getting super anxious!
I just hope noone blows the surprise for her......that would suck!

Anyways, I'm rambling!
Hope you all have a GREAAAAT night!
Love yas!

Mundane Monday. . .

Hey girls!
I hope you all had a great weekend!
Mine was pretty good.
Friday, I helped my boyfriend's sister make treats for her daughter's 2nd birthday party!
The theme was Toy Story, so we made cake pops that looked like Ham & Mr. Potato Head.
Ham: Chocolate cake, m&m's as ears, coated in pink vanilla candy melts!

Mr. Potato Head was chocolate cake with Peanut Butter candy melts!
He has a Junior Mint for his hat, m&m's for ears, candy cigarettes for arms, butterscotch chip as his nose & blue almond joy pieces for his feet!
We drew his eyes and mustache on!

We also made Space Alien cupcakes.
They were made with chocolate cake, vanilla icing {with green food coloring}, white m&m's for the eyes, and a green sour straw for their antenna!

Erika made Bethanee's cake by herself:
I think she did an awesome job!!!
The party was yesterday! Everyone really enjoyed our little treats! :)
---------------------------------------

As for today, it's been so-so.
Not exactly the best Monday I've ever had, but I guess I can't complain too much!
I'm alive, right?
{I'll keep thinking that way}
I've lost 2lbs on Weight Watchers.
I know it doesn't sound like a lot, but it's a start... right? :]

--------------------

Just for today, I'll leave ya'll with two quotes:

"No matter how careful you are, there's going to be the sense you missed something, the collapsed feeling under your skin that you didn't experience it all. There's that fallen heart feeling that you rushed right through the moments where you should've been paying attention." - Invisible Monsters

"You dont know what goes on in anyone's life but your own. And when you mess with one part of a person's life, you're not messing with just that part. Unfortunately, you can't be that precise and selective. When you mess with one part of a person's life, you're messing with their entire life. Everything. . . affects everything." -- Jay Asher, Thirteen Reasons Why

Pounding!

Hey, hey, hey!
First of all, if you're new to my blog - WELCOME!
I'm so glad ya'll want to be my fraaand! ;)
Also, shout out to the girls that left me sweet comments yesterday on my Negative Nacy post!
I love you all :)

So, most of you know that I started Weight Watchers, and I'm happy to say:
I successfully completed DAY ONE of Weight Watchers yesterday!
So far, I'm loving it!
Since I have to track everything on my phone, it kind of makes me want to eat less.
I guess that's the point, it holds me accountable for all the shiaaat I eat. {which is what I need}
I'm on the fast track to bikini season [paha]!

Melisa Palooza {my momma} and I went walking this morning for the 2nd day in a row!
We've also been doing work on this thing:

It looks like a small thing, but this Ab Circle kicks my butt!
I love it! :)

I wish I could keep running, but due to my sciatic nerve being messed up, I have to settle for walking & working out other ways!  It's really depressing, considering how much I love to run!

The good news for today is,
mom gave me the idea to throw my friends Caitlin & Shane, my boyfriend's twin brother, an "Old Fashioned Pounding Party".
For those of you that have never heard of this, people throw these as a wedding shower.

Everyone comes and brings a pound of something, a recipe to go with it, and the utensils to make the meal/desserts/etc.

For example:
A pound of meat, a recipe for meatloaf, and a meatloaf pan.
A pound of sugar, a recipe for pie, and a pie plate.
A pound of spaghetti, a recipe, and a strainer.

It's going to be so much fun, and I can't wait!
I just ordered her invitations from Polka Dot Designs & they are presh! :)
{They even have a detachable recipe card on them}.

I feel like I'm bombarding my blog with party planning, but I'm LOVING it.
Totally up my alley!

And to the girlies who I will be sending gifts to for "Pass It Forward", e-mail me your mailing address at mkate0714@yahoo.com

Have a great day ladies!
Love yas!

Weight Watchers -- ohhh yeah!

Hey Girls!
I wanted to start by saying thanks to Courtney, Hailey, & Sarah for joining "Pass It Forward"!!
I will have your gifts in the mail by the end of this week/beginning of next! :)
So excited ya'll decided to participate!

-----------------------

If you're new to my blog, I've decided to do this 30 days/30 answers thing! And today is Day 3!

Day 3: Your Views On Drugs & Alcohol
Drugs- never have, never will try them.  I don't do them & none of my friends do.  If you do, that's your life, your choice.  As far as alcohol, we're friends... pretty decent friends actually.  I love me some margaritas, wine, & "Where's My Pants" Daiquiri {yes, that is the name of the drink}.

----------------------------------
In other news, I started Weight Watchers today.  I'm really excited about it because my weight has gotten out of control.  My whole life I've been tiny.  In high school, I weighed 104  & all through college I maintained my weight of 125.  Now, I've reached 150 - which is my "rock bottom".  Don't get me wrong, 150 isn't big -- but for someone who's been skinny their whole life, I feel big.
I don't fit in ANY of my clothes anymore, I feel disgusting & have just had enough.
I decided today that if I don't do this now, I don't know when I would.
I try not to have debby-downer posts because I don't want everyone to dread reading my posts, but today I've just come to the realization that I'm unhappy in my body, and I'm the only one who can fix it.  So by God, I'M DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!! ;)

Enough negativity for the day,
Let me just tell ya'll that I am over-the-moon EXCITED about the SURPRISE birthday party I'm throwing for my mom this year! {Abby, if you're reading this, tell your mom I need her address}. :)

I've mentioned before that mom was put in ICU last year, and it just so happened to fall on her birthday.
We really thought we were going to lose her ya'll, she was not doing well at all.
Thankfully, she came out alive so we're celebrating BIG TIME about the fact that God let us keep her another year! What a blesssing!
I honestly can't believe it's been a year since her sickness!
Anyways,
I ordered her cake - it will look like this:
The only difference is, it will be two layers & the bow will be on the top.
The top layer will be lime cake with a tequila syrup & the bottom will be all wedding cake flavor. :)
Yumm-O!

Her invitations are also ordered!
The front has a blender spilled over with two margarita glasses, some limes, and a bottle of tequila.  It says: "A lot of margaritas, a little salt and lime - this surprise birthday party is a guaranteed good time"
The back is a green background that says: "One tequila, two tequila, three tequila.. FLOOR, I can't wait to see Melisa's face when she walks through the door!"
Then it gives all the info, etc.
All of her friends from Texas have decided to come down to LA for it, so she's going to DIE!  She will be so surprised!! :)
Can't wait!
[IF ANY OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS READ THIS, KEEP IT A SECRET]

Well, I have to go to class... yayy for Anatomy 2! ;)
Hope you all have a great afternoon!
Love yas!

Worst Blogger Friend Award Goes to ME!

Hey girlie girls!
Sorry {again} for my absence!
I still haven't gotten a new charger for my computer... :( so sad!
Hope you all had a FANTASTIC weekend & of course, an AMAZING Valentine's Day!
Mine was pretty awesome!
Blane and I had our early Valentine's Day on Saturday because I had an anatomy test last night! {LAME}
Our thanksgiving dinner on Vday was the BOMB!
I made my homemade cornbread dressing, ham with brown sugar and pineapple, cream cheese corn, green beans & cheese, mashed potatoes, rolls & chocolate covered strawberries {compliments of my boo} :)  He did a JAM-UP job on the strawberries!

Yummyyyy :)
I ate so much, I should've been rolled off the couch and into bed by a wheelchair!

In other fantastic news..
I got my "Pass It Forward" package from Kristen over at All In My Twenties!

It's the cutest doggy calendar for my desk! <3 it!
Thank you so much Kristen! I love it! :)
How it works is: once you get a package, you have to pick three other blogger friends to send a gift to.
When they receive the gift, they have to pick three girls & gift them.
And so on, and so forth!

If you would like to participate-
The first three girls to comment on this post are the ones I'll send gifts to!
Once you receive my gift, pick your three girls to send gifts too!
It's pretty fun!
Can't wait to start shopping for the three I have to gift! :)
-----------------------------------------------------------

Oh, I almost forgot! Day 2 of my 30 day challenge:
Where do you want to be in 10 years?
Hopefully, I will have graduated with my RN, gone to mortuary school & will be on the road to taking over the funeral home :)
I also hope I'm married with a kiddo... or two!
If you want to join on this little challenge, refer back to my last post! :)

------------------------------

Lastly, were ya'll not all PUMPED when Brad sent Michelle packing last night on The Bachelor?!?
Blane looked at me like I was crazy- I stood up and clapped {heat of the moment people, don't hate}. ;)
So glad he saw the light - because she was caaaraaazyyy!!

Hopefully I'll have a charger by FRIDAY!
Have a great rest of the week ya'll!
Sooo sorry for being such a horrible blogger friend this past week!
I'll make it up soon- promise! (:
Love yas!

i'mmmm back!!

Hey my lady friends!
Due to my lovely puppy, Ace, chewing up my computer charger I have been absent!
Luckily, I can borrow my brother's computer. :)
Courtney over at Girl On A Mission is doing this 30 facts in 30 days thing!
And I feel like participating.
If any of you other little ladies want to participate feel free :)

Day 1 - Your Current Relationship:
I'm currently dating my little lovebug, Blane.  On May 1, 2011, we will have been together for 4 years.  We met my senior year of high school.  I got invited to go to lunch with my friend Caitlin & her boyfriend {blane's twin - who is now her fiance'} and I met him.  :) He was precious!  We ended up going on a double date the next night.  Like they say, and the rest is history.
Although our relationship is amazing, it hasn't been a bed of roses.  We broke up once for 3 months and didn't speak a word {not even a drunk text}.  Somehow, we ended up back together & I couldn't be happier! I can say that honestly and wholeheartedly. He's everything I've ever wanted and more! :)

Since I'm feeling lovey dovey & Valentine's day is right around the corner, I thought I'd post pics of us throughout our 3 1/2 years together.

The first time he took me fishing :)

At my mom's wedding in 2007

Love you all, my friends!
Hope ya'll are just as excited as me for Valentine's day -(I've already started prepping mine & Blane's cornbread dressing for our VDay Thanksgiving FEAST). :))
My heart & tummy get excited just thinking about the festivities of this weekend! ....sighh

Study or Blog?!

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters
1.  I'm STRESSING majorly about my Anatomy & Physiology test that I have at 7pm tonight.  I have to know all things about the heart. Booooring.
{obviously not stressing too bad considering I'm blogging}

2.  How many people saw Christina butcher the national anthem last night?  I was embarrassed for her.  She should've practiced, maybe? Considering that is a HUGE event to be performing at.
In case you missed it, here ya go!

3.  I'm saddened that my blanket Blane made me for our one year anniversary {4 years ago} got messed up.
I cried and was heartbroken for about 20 minutes - thankfully it can be fixed!
So, no worries!!! :)

4.  Valentine's day {AKA: best-day-ever-because-i'm-having-thanksgiving-dinner-day} is one week from today.  Unfortunately, I have another Anatomy test that day.  Therefore, my thanksgiving feast will take place this weekend with my hunny!

5. Today is national "Wave All Your Fingers At Your Neighbor" day .. haha.  Have fun trying that one out if you'd like. ;)

6.  If Ace is no longer my puppy tomorrow - it's because I shipped him to Kalamazoo!!!! He just chewed my computer charger into THREE different pieces while I was getting dressed for class.  Let's hope my "mr-fix-it" boyfriend can fix this mess!

Hope you all have a FANTASTIC rest of the day!
My afternoon will consist of studying and test taking, while longing to be at home with some wine in hand & The Bachelor on the TV.... sigh...

Love The Life You Live Sundays

Hey lil wodies!
Hope ya'll are having a fantastic Super Bowl Sunday.
Get ready for the drinking, eating, & cheering that's about to go down!
I'm for Green Bay because one of my favorite LSU players, Matt Flynn, is on the team.
GEAUX PACKERS!
Anyway,
I was reading my favorite quotes on my favorite quote website & I've decided to have:
"Love The Life You Live Sundays".
It's just going to be random quotes that I've found and love about life, love, & life lessons.
If you want to participate by linking up let me know.
They are starting to charge for link ups, so I was going to see if others want to join before I pay!
If you do, let me know, then next week I'll have a link up available! :)
I love quotes & enjoy reading them so I figured this would be a cool way to share!

I'm going to start this week by leaving you guys with my favorite quote of all time:
"You don't know about real loss, 'cause it only occurs when you've loved something more than you love yourself. And I doubt you've ever dared to love anybody that much."
-Good Will Hunting

Happy Sunday everyone! :)

Slippery Snow

Hey girlies!
I know I've been M.I.A for a few days! I don't really know why either..
considering I've had so much time on my hands due to school cancellations.
If you aren't from the south, you should move here.
There was a *chance* of ice on Thursday & Friday so all colleges & schools in the area SHUT DOWN.
We don't know how to handle this cold business here in Louisiana.

Case and point:
My boyfriend Blane in the ER last night for falling on icy stairs at his sister's house.
Ya'll, I don't want to laugh but me and Erika had to last night.
We both have an issue when people fall down- how can you NOT laugh at that?

{Rewind}
Erika & I were relaxing at the house, she just had a procedure done yesterday and wanted to drink for the pain - because that's how we roll. ;)
The guys offered to go get drinks & pizza then come back so we could watch the movie Twelve.
The guys had just gotten back from town with our "Where's My Pants" daiquiris and grub.
{yes, that is the name of the drink}
We all ventured outside on Erika's deck to see the snow.
Everyone was so excited because it DOES NOT snow here in Louisiana.
Next thing we know, my sweetheart goes FLYING down the deck stairs.
Literally, he slipped on the ice, flew in the air a good two feet, then landed back down on his ribs.
After the fall he proceeded to do a front roll down the rest of the stairs.
He then laid motionless in the icy, wet ground for a good 10 minutes!
Our laughter turned to panic when he couldn't breathe.
We thought for sure he had broken a rib {or 2}.

He caught his breath and we rushed him to the hospital.
After X-rays, shots & multiple examinations, they determined he'd just bruised his ribs & his elbow.
[Needless to say, when we got home, he no longer wanted his XLG Hurricane]
He passed smooth out, sha baby!

The rest of us watched Twelve.

As twisted & crazy as it was, I kind of liked it.
It's one of those that once you start watching you have to finish because you HAVE to know the ending.
And who doesn't like looking at Chace Crawford for two hours straight? ... juuuust saying!
I don't know if I would reccommend it as a "must see" - but if you want something out of the ordinary, this is it {for sure}.

-----------------------------------------------

In other news, I can't even begin to tell you how EXCITED I am for Valentine's Day.
My excitement is only through the roof because Blane & I have an agreement this year.
Instead of giving one another gifts, we are cooking my our most favorite meal.....
{drum roll please}
THANKSGIVING DINNER.

You're thinking {WTF?!} right?!
Since I was little, this meal has been my favorite.
It consists of homemade dressing, baked turkey, green beans & cheese, squash & cheese, green bean casserole, cream cheese corn, watergate salad, fresh rolls & homemade mashed potatoes!
{No we won't be making ALL of this, but most of it}
Ya'll I'm just so excited! I could do a happy dance around this living room right now!!!!

We're finishing off the meal with (my favorite):
Chocolate Covered Strawberries! AH!!!

Romantic movies are also on the Valentine's To-Do list.
Thank God I have a boyfriend who doesn't mind my choice in movies -sometimes-. ;)

My choices include:
1.) My Best-Friend's Wedding
My most favorite movie  of ALL time.  Nothing like love & heartache all in one.
2.) Sleepless In Seattle
Totally captures how a great love can bring two strangers together. Ahhh.
3.) You've Got Mail
Seriously, do I need to explain why I LOVEEEEEEE this movie. {It makes me want to own a bookstore}.
4.) Hope Floats
How sweet are Sandra & Harry in this movie?
The part where she's crying on the floor in the bathroom to her mom steals my heart.
5.) Notting Hill
Blane would kill me for writing this, but this is actually one of HIS favorite movies. {he's so cute}. :)

Ok, time for lunch with my lovebug! :)
Hope you all have a fabulous and SAFE weekend.
