The Beginning of My Journey for The Cure!

Ok, where to start... I've always made fun of people who had blogs.  I never felt like anything in my life was important enough to write about for the rest of the world to see.
However, as I was reading my SHAPE magazine tonight, I started reading weight loss success stories from everyday women.
Most of them began their journey by running with a friend, joining a gym, or running in local marathons.  They all talked about how these things kept them motivated.  I've always loved to run, but I was looking for something that would motivate me! Therefore, my quest for motivation began!
I started toying around with the idea of local marathons & called my friend Bridget because God knows, when I come up with an idea.. I always want a partner in crime!
We began looking into the local running groups and decided to join the Go Run group here in Lake Charles.  They slowly train you to run, set goals, and turn you into a decent runner.  Of course, I wanted to go further, find a goal that would really make me get off my ass {excuse the French, but it's true} and do something!

That's when I thought of Susan G. Komen 3-day For The Cure. Ah ha!  I've found it..my motivation.  For those of you who aren't familiar with this, it's a 3 day, 60 mile walk to raise money for breast cancer awareness.
Although it seems like a daunting task, I think I can do it.  My best-friend's mom had breast cancer, and I lost my Granny & Chacha to this terrible disease.
Their suffering was far more than the suffering I would have to endure to train for, and participate in, this 3 day walk.  I started looking at dates and decided on Boston - July 22-24th.  I immediately called my dad, told him to pencil this into his schedule in place of our yearly "father-daughter trip."
He was just as excited as I was about it, along with my step-mom.
What started out as a random night surfing the web turned into, what I think will be, the journey of a lifetime!  In order to participate in the walk, each person has to raise $2,300 -- so, with that being said, let the fundraising & training begin!!!!
